Gentle Bond Counselling was founded with the belief that genuine empathy and collaborative therapy foster real, enduring change. Based in Southport, Merseyside, my practice combines a warm and welcoming presence with dedicated clinical integrity, ensuring you always feel respected and heard. About me

Hello, I'm Alison. I am a qualified counsellor based in the North West, offering both face-to-face and online therapy sessions. My practice, Gentle Bond Counselling, was created out of a commitment to provide a compassionate, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions at your own pace.

Life brings seasons of anxiety, grief, relationship changes, and uncertainty. Whatever you are carrying, I work collaboratively alongside you to help bring clarity, emotional resilience, and gentle healing. Being a person centred counsellor, I offer a warm and steady presence where you can feel heard and supported. My approach is gentle, relational and grounded in empathy. I won't rush you or tell you what to do; we'll explore things together, at your pace. There is no judgement, pressure or expectation. My approach is grounded in the belief that healing happens through connection when we feel safe enough to be ourselves. I will walk beside you, helping you to make sense of your feelings and experiences with care.

I understand how difficult it is to reach out for support, it can feel like one of the hardest steps, especially if you're used to carrying things on your own, and I hold that with care. My role isn’t to tell you what to do, it is to walk beside you, helping you to make sense of your experiences and reconnect with your own inner wisdom.

I have a particular interest in emotional awareness, self-understanding, and the gentle unfolding of the inner self. I'm passionate about creating a space where you feel valued and understood.

If you choose to work with me, we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you. your story matters, and I'm here to support you as you grow, heal and rediscover your sense of self.

I work with many different issues people may have; I have further training experience in domestic abuse, bereavement and relationship issues. I have also had many years of experience in care for disabled and elderly.

Beginning counselling can feel like a daunting step. Here is what you can anticipate from our initial conversation through to regular sessions, ensuring you feel supported and heard every step of the way.

We meet in a quiet private space.

Online or face to face, just us, no interuptions.

You can say anything.

Or nothing at all. You might cry, laugh, feel angry, or feel numb. All is welcome here.

Sessions are 60 minutes.

Sessions are usually on a weekly basis and I offer long term therapy.

Everything stays confidential.

What you share with me stays private. There are are only a few rare legal expectaions, which I will explain clearly to you in our first session.

My practice is grounded in a person-centred, relational approach where empathy, acceptance, and gentle presence lead the way. In our sessions, there is no pressure to have everything figured out or to perform. I pay attention to what is felt as well as what is said, including things that are sometimes difficult to put into words. Therapy isn't a program that I apply, it's a relationship we build together, giving your feelings and thoughts room to breathe and unfold naturally.

Rather than offering quick fixes or giving advice, I walk alongside you as a steady companion. Together, we gently explore whatever you are carrying—uncovering clarity, restoring emotional resilience, and reconnecting with your own inner wisdom. Whether we meet face-to-face in Southport or online, each session is tailored with care to support your personal journey.

My practice is supported by regular clinical supervision, along with ongoing learning and professional development. This helps me to continue developing as a therapist and make sure the way I practice remains thoughtful and ethical.

I am MBACP registered.
